Sindre

Excellent news, I was worried that my newer files were somehow corrupt...

I love you. I've been away from the forums for a while but have been a massive subsonic fan for years now, actively promoting it to anyone who will listen. It's responses like this which remind me how much Subsonic kicks ass and how lucky we, your community, are to have such a long-standing developer dedicated to the cause. I use Subsonic on my phone in my car, streaming to my phone from home, and wirelessly to my car via bluetooth. I would never manage to listen to so much of my collection otherwise.

I will be donating again soon. I can't praise you enough. Top marks and please, keep it up.

Thank you Sindre!

Cheers, Chug

I don't know if it's really a 5.0beta1 problem, but in the Player-settings my subsonic says LAME is not installed. But it is!

Code: Select all
shavenne@datengrab:~$ sudo ls -l /var/subsonic/transcode
insgesamt 19916
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root       13 Okt 18  2012 faad -> /usr/bin/faad
-rwxrwxr-x 1 root root 20290460 Mai 24 12:00 ffmpeg
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root       13 Okt 18  2012 flac -> /usr/bin/flac
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root    97776 Jul  2 14:53 lame
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root       15 Okt 18  2012 oggdec -> /usr/bin/oggdec
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root       15 Okt 18  2012 oggenc -> /usr/bin/oggenc
shavenne@datengrab:~$ sudo /var/subsonic/transcode/lame --version
LAME 64bits version 3.99.5 (http://lame.sf.net)

[...]
shavenne@datengrab:~$

Transcoding is not working because of that error :(. Any suggestions?

Only obvious question would be that your list shows that it's the 64 bit version - so I'm assuming that everything else is 64 bit as well and that Subsonic isn't looking for the 32 bit version of lame.

Second question would be why your using lame?

Just about everything can be transcoded just using ffmpeg.

I normally don't use lame.

BUT.... that was the golden tip! I modified the transcode command before in the 'Transcoding'-options from ffmpeg to avconv. Subsonic was actually not missing lame.. it was missing avconv! I've made a symbolic link to the transcode folder and it works! :)

An other simple tips for the transcoding problem with embedded cover art, just add "-vn" to disable video in processing...

Code: Select all
ffmpeg -i %s -ab %bk -v 0 -vn -f mp3 -

Chromecast does not appear to work for me as well. I get the subsonic icon on the TV, but nothing else. Shows the song track quickly, then exits. I ran into similiar problems using Dsub, until daneren2005 figured out the issue. Originally we thought it was a problem with the SSL certificate (I have a signed PositiveSSL, not self-signed), but I think it was an issue with using an internal vs external URL.

I didn't realize how involved Sindre is with users and the development of Subsonic. Even more reason to support the project. I consider this to be one of the most important pieces of software I've ever used. It has truly changed the way I listen to music. I bought a license when it was a lifetime deal and I feel as if I'm freeloading now!

I installed the beta a couple days ago and I too experienced playback issues with some files types.

M4A files would not playback at all in the web interface as other users experienced. I also had a case where some MP3 files would not playback though iSub. Before finding this forum, I traced the issue to FFMPEG and rolled back the version which fixed all of my issues. Upon learning of added the -map 0:0 flag to the transcoding command, I restored the new release of FFMPEG and that solved the M4A playback issues in subsonic (I did not test in iSub before or after). I did find the playback issues for some MP3 files in iSub still remained unless I was on WiFi. As it turns out I have cellular set to transcode at 128 kbits and wifi at full blast. When I set it to full bit rate in iSub the MP3's in question played fine. To further test this I set the player in the web interface to transcode at 128 kbits and as expected it did not play the mp3's in question. After a roll back to the last version of FFMPEG released with Subsonic, the issue was resolved.

I think there may be some further issues with the new version of FFMPEG beyond adding the additional -map 0:0 flag. I did try downloading the newest version from the FFMPEG project directly and the issues persisted. Has anyone else run into problems where files will play properly, unless they are transcoding to a lower bit rate?

all was ok on SS4.9 but upgraded to beta 5.0 beta1 and the full scan is crashing out. Seems to crash out around 22k on each scan (full DB is about 50k). If this relates to a corrupt file then I can delete it, but which one? have rebooted, stopped and started SS, removed media folders and reapplied them, cleaned up database etc.#

Any idea's? Thanks

I don't know if this behavior is new to Subsonic 5 or I'm just noticing it now since I just started sharing my server with other people. My recently played playlist has lots of albums that haven't been recently played, but I'm assuming other users have played those albums. Any way this could be fixed to show only the logged in user's most recently played?

Hey all,

I like the new 5.0 Version, it works very well!

I only got some things which are really annoying:

Video:
You need to click twice to enable videoplaying -> One time select video, and then press play again before fullscreen
another thing the BIT Rate was really good for me if I got low traffic or bad connection, this option back would be good.
Also it would be awesome if we got a easier way to change the time of the video (maybe like youtube with the time abouve the mouse)

Whats also missing, the "next" button for videos... with 4.9 we were able to change current video to the next one, thats missing now :(

Running on Ubuntu :)

Thank you very much, you are doing a great job!
Greetings from Nuremberg the metropolis of beer :D
