Subsonic on Android, Music skip after a few seconds

Postby froz » Tue Aug 05, 2014 1:34 am

Hi,
I have a curious problem where when streaming music on my android, the next song starts, plays for a few seconds, and then very frequently it skips/pauses for a few seconds and starts playing again.

I do have my music on a network share from the subsonic server. Any kind of buffer settings or network tweaks? I wouldn't mind more delay between the previous and next song but the skip in the song is kind of annoying.

Thanks
froz

I have this issue as well on my Android Nexus 5. The bug has been around for quite a while for me, just never got around to posting about it. I hit play on an entire album that is not cached (thus requires streaming), it begins playing the first song while downloading ahead in the background. It seems that when the first song is done downloading, you skip back to the beginning of the song from wherever you are when the song completes downloading. Every once in a while this also happens when the second song is done downloading too, but not always. I don't think I've ever had it skip back more than twice though.

Yep. I just registered in this forum to ask about it.
I'm currently using my bf's Galaxy Pocket Neo and it happens all the time.

The problem was that when I used 3G connection to buffer new songs it would start again repeatedly which was pretty annoying.

You might consider trying the Dsub app. I like the layout and features much better and it has fewer bugs. If you do encounter an unexpected behavior, the Dsub developer usually fixes things pretty quickly.

Then you have server side issues that need to be fixed.

In sorry but I really don't see what you're getting at with that comment.

There's a bug that's been reported here. The best way to get a bug fixed is by reporting it so someone with the ability is able to pinpoint the problem and fix it.

Switching to another client isn't going to get it fixed.

I have no idea if this is server or client side, all I know is that there's a bug.

My sincerest apology. I shall make a note to immediately and henceforth cease and desist trying to provide you with helpful information. My compliments on your choice of pseudonym, but perhaps you omitted the "c".

How were you trying to help? You suggested that the bug is server side ?

OK, this might be true, but since others seem to have this problem it's very unlikely to be individual settings. It's a bug.

Hopefully it being reported here will help to get t it fixed.

Using dsub will not help

Why do you say that? Don't bugs get fixed round these parts ?

Each version of subsonic that's released seems to have a list of fixed bugs.
