I've seen this error on every version I've used so far.

And have just put up with it.

But it's starting to drive me crazy.

From my cursory search, I can't believe there's only one mention of it.

Anyone else?

Is there a reason or a fix?

Thanks.

I've never seen this one before. Try a browser cache clean/delete? If there's no associated error in the Subsonic log, then it's possible it could just be a browser error. Same result on different browsers? Are other users on your sight getting the same error?

Client? Server? Both?

I just logged onto one of my sites from a Linux Mint VM as the client without any problem.

Client and server, actually.

I have a friend who hosts his on a Windows box and I get this message when visiting his site too.

So it must be something about Ubuntu firefox, eh?

Thanks for the response!

That would be my best guess. My Linux Mint VM running Firefox doesn't seem to have an issue, but it's also pretty pristine without any add ins.

You are welcome to log onto my site to see if it does the same thing in your browser.

The site is the 5.0 beta1 - but if you see the same behavior, then you can assume it's a browser issue.

I wanted to bump this. I'm seeing the same thing, and I'm using Firefox 35 on OS X 10.9.5, so it's not just a Linux thing. I've gotten this for a very long time (been a Subsonic user for several years now). The weird thing is that it doesn't happen every time I open Firefox; it maybe happens 50-60% of the time. I do have Subsonic pinned as a tab in FF, but I have no idea if that would affect anything.

Here's a screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/g0vPVgY.png

Notice that nothing in the background has loaded (artwork, the player down at the bottom, etc.). When I click OK, everything loads as if there were no error.

Here's my theory........

In my Firefox prefs, I've set FF to automatically open a good 5 or 6 tabs (2 of which are Subsonic tabs).

I have a feeling that '$' is not defined yet since FF is busy opening a bunch of tabs, etc.

I've thought about creating a Greasemonkey script that either delays the Subsonic tabs a bit (using setTimeout or something) or actually making sure to load jquery (or whatever js library Subsonic uses before doing anything else....BTW, what does Subsonic use??)

But yeah......pretty annoying. It's really my only beef with Subsonic though.

That's actually exactly what I was thinking. It seems like something that Subsonic is expecting to be ready isn't ready when Firefox tells Subsonic to load.

FYI, I posted a bug on SourceForge here just to make sure the devs are aware of this issue and have an official way to track it.

Is there anything in the Firefox error console?

I found some dodgy javascript in the page showing "now playing" and chat. This could be the cause. Fixed it now.
