Does anyone know the logic used for Recently Added?

All,I have been running version 4.9 for a while now. I have all of my content in a single folder (call it folder "A"). When I get ready to add new content, I prep the content in a different folder (call it folder "B"). Then when I have the content ready, I copy the folders from "B" to "A". That night when the scan runs, it will pick up the new content. I keep checking the "Recently Added" tab of the Home screen and expect to see the new folders that I added on this screen, but that's not the case.

Does anyone know the logic that Subsonic uses to determine recently added? Is it Date Modified on the folder? Is it the most recent date on a file within the folder?

I want to try and sync this tab with what the content as I add it so that I can point my users to that tab for a recap of the new material.

Any ideas?
