XBMC Audio distorted after SS Jukebox Play

I really like all the apps that come with SS to control my install and play tunes for for folks. Sadly, each time I use the jukebox mode while XBMC is running, the audio device "wigs out". I can't play anything in xbmc anymore. Even if i close and relaunch XBMC and kill the SS service the audio is toast. I have to completely restart the htpc to get XBMC audio working again.

Is this something to do with exclusive audio access or something?
