Apple protected songs

I have a significant number of songs I tried to index from my iTunes library that are still "protected". It looks like the subsonic application can't make any protected content part of the library... It sees the albums and artists and makes place holders but I get a "no media found" message when I try to open an album that I bought from iTunes before they stopped locking the songs. Is there any way around this problem?
