Can't see FLAC's

Postby Valaire » Mon Mar 18, 2013 6:06 pm

I can't browse or play any of my music that is in FLAC format, despite having the conventional transcoding setup whereby it should be using ffmpeg to transcode flacs. What am I doing wrong? :)

Flac is listed as a file that should be recognized as music (by default), as well.

Any clues with this? Still having the same problem in 4.8. As I'm moving more and more of my music to FLAC, I'm losing it in the Subsonic index. It won't list any folder containing only FLAC files.

Did you ever find a solution to this?

I have noticed the same issue (or at least I think it's the same issue) and I have raised a post but have had no replies as well:

Sounds like no one wants to help :/

Unfortunately I did not -- I had started looking at alternatives to Subsonic that focused on having better front-ends. Wiped my Ubuntu server awhile ago and haven't reinstalled Subsonic to check if this problem was ever fixed. Will probably get around to it soon. Sorry that I was not helpful -- what I can say is that my FLACS play fine in anything else, and show up and play fine in Plex (although Plex is not very ideal for music playback).

Thanks,

Since I've paid for Subsonic premium I'd rather not bin it off... I have noticed that even though Subsonic doesn't list the flac files in the left hand side, if you search for the user it will show up in the search results, and when I have the same artist in mp3 and flac it will list them both, even though they are exactly the same...

It's strange, thanks for coming back to me, it's more than anyone else has done so far...

The other big issue I've had, not sure if it's related or not, is a lot of music files would not play on their own, like if they were next on the playlist, but if I manipulated the seekbar at all, it would play the song fine from whatever location I played it from. This seemed like a header/corruption issue and ran my music through a program to batch fix those, but still seemed to be an issue. I don't recall if this had anything to do with them being flac or not.

Do you have flac in your transcoding folder ? This is Linux example:
Code: Select all
georgeDesktop transcode # pwd
/var/subsonic/transcode
georgeDesktop transcode # ls -lrt
total 20184
lrwxrwxrwx 1 subsonic root       13 Nov  1 11:54 lame -> /usr/bin/lame
lrwxrwxrwx 1 subsonic root       13 Nov  1 11:57 flac -> /usr/bin/flac
lrwxrwxrwx 1 subsonic root       15 Nov  1 13:18 oggenc -> /usr/bin/oggenc
