Question About Audio Processing in Jukebox mode

Hi,
I have a question about how subsonic does the audio processing in Jukebox mode. I know that for the web player and ios / android apps the files are being transcoded to mp3 on the fly by ffmpeg. My question is, when in jukebox mode is what I'm hearing the output of ffmpeg sent to my audio device or is it being transcoded before that.

I ask because I'm trying to figure out the best set up in terms of audio fidelity. I have great deal of music in flac and wav formats and a fairly nice home audio setup so I'd like to make sure I'm preserving audio fidelity as much as possible.
