SubSonic is not compatible with Java 8 and Yosemite is not compatible with Java 6.
Is an update in preparation?

How were you able to get it working? I'm trying too on a device I just upgraded to 10.10, but I'm just told I need Java 6 SE to run it.

Good news, I found a fix! Install this package from Apple which contains Java 6, and you'll be good to go.
