Opus Support in Lollipop?

Postby shadow.8 » Sat Nov 15, 2014 7:47 pm

According to the Lollipop About page, opus is now supported in Lollipop, however I can't seem to get it to play. I am using a Nexus 5 running LRX210. I am rooted using Elemental-X 2.03 kernel. I setup my server (Musiccabinet) to transcode to opus using the settings below. Transcoding seems to work and if get the files off my phone, VLC recognizes and plays them as opus files. DSub won't play them. Any ideas about how to get opus to play in DSub?

Convert From:
flac mp3 ogg

Convert To:
opus

Step 1:
ffmpeg -i %s -ab %bk -v 0 -f wav -

Step 2:
opusenc --bitrate %b --artist %a --title %t --album %l - -

I've been playing around with this a little more. The songs won't play in ES File Explorer, Google Play Music or Shuttle Player but they will play in this app I found, Neutron. I have a feeling, however, that Neutron doesn't use the Android libraries to play opus but instead brings it's own.

Is there something wrong with my setup?

DSub plays whatever the standard media player will play. Google is famous for saying they added support for something in a new release without actually making it usable, so take that with a grain of salt.
