Incorrect song lengths

Postby friendlyferret » Mon Dec 22, 2014 5:25 pm

Dear Subsonic fans,
I'm having trouble with SubSonic running on a RaspberryPi.
It serves songs successfully, but some of the songs are being
displayed with incorrect lengths (song duration).
Some are too short and when played the song is truncated.
Some are too long and extra empty time is appended.

I've tried rescanning the music folders and refreshing,
I've rebooted the computer, but no difference.

I've confirmed that the music file itself on the disk is correct;
it plays properly through a desktop music player.

Any tips on how to troubleshoot this problem?
Thanks,
ff

Not a Subsonic issue, often the files themselves are variable bit rate and contain an error.
If so, this free tool will fix it. http://home.gna.org/vbrfix/

Dear recked,

Thank you for your reply.
Your suggestion wasn't exactly my problem,
but it did start me on a line of investigation which
eventually turned into a solution for me.

I was using SoundJuicer to rip my CD's which
seemed to be the problem. I changed to using
cd-paranoia. They both produce variable
bit rate mp3's, but for some reason,
the latter gave me better results.

Thank you!
