Probably not the ideal place to post this because it wasnt introduced in this release but something I would like to see would be an update to the src zip that is released. For a couple versions now the source zip fails to include everything needed for maven to make a deployable war file. When trying to make from what is included from whats included in source it failes because subsonic-rest-api is not included. Is there anyway you can either include the code and all the necessary poms or make the compiled war available for the needed subsonic-rest-api to make mvn install work from the source.

I make some modifications to the code for my own releases and for a couple release ive now had to do additional work to get everything working right when downloading the src release. Im probably one of the few people to get the src make changes and compile myself, but it would be really awesome if you could make the src release all inclusive again so I could download modify and run mvn install without issue. If not I guess I probably just need to code the additional work into my bootstrap script I have setup to get my changes ready for each new release.

Fixed. Thanks for pointing it out!

Nice, thanks for the quick turnaround should have brought it up sooner.

Really like the new changes in this beta.

Now the only feature letting me stay with MusicCabinet is the synchronization of starred-tracks with last.fm-loved-tracks ... :)

Fantastic Release Sindre.... As always the enhancements are greatly appreciated....

One issue or suggestion. Love the new artist information section for my music collection :D

However I have a large video collection as well. When I open a directory with a TV show it will pull information that it believes to be associated with theses video files "Music artist information". However it is a TV series and the info is really not related.

Wondering if there was a way to either turn off the artist information for folders containing video files or is there some way to pull data from another source like TVDB or TMDB for movies.

Sindre,

Any chance that you'd consider making Folder access configurable per user or group of users? Or perhaps per Player? I often have multiple copies of certain music, for instance one in FLAC format another in DSF file format, maybe others in DTS WAV format, so that different users can stream the music the way each of them prefers, some using external players with their own plugins, etc.- but instead of showing duplicates of content, I would LOVE to be able to hide a Folder for instance that corresponds to my DSF files or other more esoteric filetypes, so that only users that I know are going to use the proper External Player to play these files would be setup to see that folder. If it worked per Player, it would be even better perhaps because I could hide for instance the DSF or DTS WAV files from even showing up in an iSub client, because they can't be played there anyway. I hope you see the point...basically, the feature is Folders that are optionally 'hidden', or only viewable to certain users/groups/players.

Let me know your thoughts on this.

Thanks as always for the incredible tool that only gets better!

I like the thumbnails of videos but do miss the ability to download from their listing page. The new workflow means you have to click into and start playing each movie (since autoplay is enabled) and then click the download button from the player playing the video you would like. Would it be possible to implement the Checkbox and single file download button on the listing page with the thumbnails. I was thinking possibly under the thumbnails, or possibly as elments on the thumbnails (like checkbox top left download top right hovering over the image)? It just seems like a bad work flow to force someone to start streaming a file when they simply may want to download it.

Have you found a way to disable the thumbnails? I'm a fan of simple...and the thumbnails are a pain to read and navigate quickly.

Anyone running the 5.1 beta willing to PM me a guest account on your server? I'm a long-time MusicCabinet user, but it seems like the feature gap between it and Subsonic ClassicTM is finally closing. I'd love to check this out to see if it's finally time to come home :)

As ever, thanks for everything Sindre!

The landing/home page in v5.0 had a 'Users' tab, which showed graphs of each users bandwith for both streaming and downloading. I found this tab quite useful, but cannot find it in 5.1. Has it been removed? Is there a way to reenable it?

Everything else looks great so far!

It's moved to the "More" page.

No I havent but I just had a couple users ask me. So I think Im gonna look into it, or I may just switch that view completely back to the old style (my front end development skills suck, Im better at and like doing the backend work).

Sindre
From the comment above, and a couple of the users on my site the thumbnails dont really seem to be going over all that great (also my original like for them is fading). Is there a way to make this a user configurable option. You know have both views available and leave it up for the user to pick.

My biggest issue with it is I have several folders with many videos in them. This brings the user experience to a crawl when the browser is filled with the pipelined request to generate and grab all those thumbnails. Also when dealing with some TV shows where the names are long, it makes it a pain to see the episode number now because of the limited width given to the name in the thumbnails (I have to hover over to see it). My TV shows are named in the following format <Show Name> - <SeasonNum><EpisodeNum> - <EpisodeTitle>.

This thumbnail view is also a bit weird when there are subdirectories in a video directory. So let me kind of explain my Movie Video Layout <VideoDir>/<Genre>/(Movie|<Series>/Movie)

If all the Movies were simply under my Genre directory it wouldnt be too weird, but when clicking into a movie series directory thats where things seem a little weird.

So for instance I have Videos/Sci-Fi Fantasy/Star Wars/Blu Ray Release/<Each movie here>

So when I click down to star ware I see thumbnails for each of the sub directories (I have like the blu ray releases, original unenhanced, special edition release, etc... and all movies in each of those directories), but then I get a listing underneath those of all the subdirectories under Videos/Sci-Fi Fantasy/. Then when I click into Blu Ray releases I see the thumbnails for each of the movies, but now I am seeing a listing of the directories in Videos/Sci-Fi Fantasy/Star Wars/ under the thumbnails. It just seems like really weird behavior to list the parent directories subdirecories under the thumbnails of that directories Videos and/or subdirectories.

However if I only have one selected (typically just 'Music') then the 'Random' screen doesn't work - (however it does attempt a refresh at 10 seconds) - no errors - just no content. (I've checked with IE 8 - same)

This will correct itself once the media library is rescanned.

squashed wrote:2. The new layout with the play list queue above the player - regardless of auto-hide - I've noticed that if you use the Chrome browser then Chrome's status bar (typically bottom left) overlaps the Player details and it looks rather untidy (I guess previously it would have overlapped the last song in the playlist - but for, whatever reason, you don't notice it. (it also overlaps the last line of the alphabetic library selection - I guess it always did that - but I use the one at the top).

Yes, I totally agree. I am planning to re-do the whole player interface, then this will be less of a problem.

Thanks for your feedback :)

Sindre, PLEASE can we have the option back where we could chose the number of albums visible on the front page (I used to use 15) as on smaller screen devices having lots of albums is a real pain, PLEASE :)
If I am more stupid than you, does that make me better at something than you?

Thanks for the cool artist radio feature! Really something I missed when I moved to Subsonic.
As I run subsonic on a slow hardware (raspberry pi), after pressing the 'Start Radio' button, I have to wait for ca 10-20 seconds until anything happens. Not a real issue for me, but first I thought the feature does not work at all as just nothing happened upon clicking. Thus some indicator that subsonic is busy somewhere would be nice.

Anyways, great release!
