Subsonic 5.1.beta2 released today:

New: Drag and drop to rearrange playlists and play queue.
New: Added buttons for toggling between thumbnail and list mode.
New: Don't remove songs from playlists if they become unavailable.
New: Show toast when adding songs to queue.
New: Nicer display of "No media folders found", "New version available" etc
New: Make title clickable in video thumb
New: Show song count and duration in play queue.
New: New favicon
New: Support starring/unstarring videos.
New: Added video category in "Starred".
Bugfix: Show correct "siebling" albums.
REST: scrobble method now also updates play statistic and the list of "now playing" songs.

Since beta2 when the artist info is not available, it gives the popup error: escapeHTML not defined.

In the demo version on this website, the behavior shows up in firefox.

Did the trick.. Love the new features!

Other suggestion;

Make the right iframe with now playing and chat hide and show as the play queue. In the right iframe is room for the player and / or playlist then? Chat and nowplaying are taking a lot of space, and are usefull features. But imo they can be hidden when not used.

Just two suggestions:

1. The advantage of list mode should be to save space to allow more room for the player and queue at the bottom, but when I use list mode there's just a ton of blank space:

2. The toggle should apply when an album is selected too, as it stands now as soon as you click an album it goes back to showing both album art and list views at once, it should respect the toggle and show one or the other:

like the updates but its hard to be fully "happy" when things get removed...
like the option to update the thumbnail ourselves for movies.
and maybe a third button for those that like both list and thumbnails as previous versions looked like.
the last fm thing is cool but my folders have a -xx after the artist name, where xx is the number of cds of that band... is there any way to still have a cd / folder count if I remove it from the name so last fm will work
and what about keeping any mods made to a page when updating? is that possible? like I got a clock and news ticker that I have to re-install every update.

I disagree with this simply because the view when your in an album is the same view as previous versions. It shows the albums coverart as well as a list of the albumart in chronological order at the bottom. Being able to see album art when you are inside of an album is definitely needed and the links on the bottom allow you to easily go between the other albums you have from that artist.

I like the new toggle however it seems to be missing the download button in the list view. I would be nice to reenable that button as it allows users to download albums/shows one click. Currently a user would need to click into an album and then click download all, or in the case of a video click on it have it autostart and then click on the download link from where it has already started to autoplay.

it would still show the list of other albums from the artist at the bottom, it would just respect the toggle and show it as a list view instead of art. IMO that would make a lot more sense and be much more consistent behavior, but of course ymmv

one thing that still lingers on my wishlist is the JW player; is there a reason why 5.10 is included and not 6.10?

Bringing the ability that lets you "pop out" a video window back that used to be in older versions would also be spectacular.

Just a thought... don't get me wrong... I love to put also videos in my 'subsonic'' database.
But ... if I'm right.., (I could be worng)... Subsonic is built for music and albums lovers.
A message for SIndre... Just keep in mind... YOU can bring SUBSONIC TO THE TOP... but remember about the ''ROOT'' of Subsonic... it's all about music lovers with songs and albums.
Rule # 1: the interface MUST be EASY for music (songs & albums) FIRST.

I'm relatively certain that somewhere around 4.0, it was announced that subsonic was no longer "just" a music library server... and, I believe he's been pretty clear about taking it in this direction with the significant development in how videos are handled.

Popping out the video window was an included playback feature for many revisions. 5.0 removed that ability... I was merely suggesting that it'd make me happy to bring it back.

My use has changed over the years and I definitely use subsonic more for video than audio at this point. So personally I'd like to see enhancements continue to grow in that area.

I recently switched back to Subsonic from Madsonic. I noticed Subsonic works much faster and feels more responsive. I moved my video library over to Plex, so I now strictly use Subsonic for music. I am looking forward to future improvements. Thank you for all the hard work.

Any chance of getting an option of listing directories prior to files like it used to? This is especially odd feeling when browsing in the file list mode since it's never been this way before and is opposite of how most operating systems seem to display file lists by default.
