Just upgraded to 5.2 from 5.0. Thank you for continuing to make Subsonic better and better. I love it.

One question: You previously could specify how many characters were displayed for track names, album names, etc. Has that option been eliminated or did the setting get moved? I have a lot of classical music, which has longer track, artist and album names, and it's kind of hard to tell at a glance what's what when just a few characters are showing. (I know you can mouse over titles, but that's not really satisfactory).

Thanks.

Thanks again for an awesome update. Loving the Sonos integration. Means I can drop the file sharing I had and use Subsonic as the master index without any limitations.

A quick query, is there any way at all to have a nice subsonic icon in Sonos instead of the current, and I presume default missing, icon of the question mark? This final touch would make things perfect.

Thanks once again.

I just noticed a number of errors in the application log when enabling the Sonos service. It does seem to finally work but in the previous beta if I enabled/disabled the feature the log would show this worked first time.

Now I get;

Is this normal considering it finally seems to succeed?

Thank you for the fast update!

Problem Java solved regarding the user settings!
All other added features since v5.0 are great too.

I love your efforts and passion to make subsonic better and better! I think many people didn't know and are aware this masterpiece of software exists!

Thank you,

Re: Subsonic 5.2 released

Me again :0)

I have a small number of alac (m4a extension) tracks in my collection, along with everything else being encoded at 320Kbps and mp3 format. I followed the advice to disable transcoding on the Sonos player in order that files are sent natively to the Sonos without transcoding.

After having done this I then cannot add any non mp3 tracks to the queue.

If I disable the encoding without reloading the Sonos controller I still get the drop-down icon to add the track to the queue. When attempting this I receive a message telling me the tracks are not available for streaming from Subsonic.

If I reload the Sonos controller the option to add these non-mp3 tracks is totally gone.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Screen shows attached, I had to resize to submit but I think they still show the problem ok.

Thanks in advance.

Sindre,

Thank you VERY VERY much for this release. I have begun testing it internally and will proceed toward replacing my old 4.7 Subsonic server instance in the very near future. In particular, the new ability to provide certain folder access to only certain users is a HUGE reason that I will likely stay away from moving to Madsonic, and instead stick with 'normal' Subsonic, now that you have that feature. I have several important use cases for this 'hiding' of folders from the general population of users, while making them available only to certain others. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU sir!!!!!

Lastly, a question - do you anticipate any problems coming from 4.7 going directly to 5.2??? I know I'm WAY outdated now with 4.7, but it was stable, and did the job, so I never bothered to move up. Now with 5.2, there is EVERY reason to upgrade as far as I'm concerned. Let me know if you think that big leap is going to be a problem for me on my Mac OSX, or how best to prepare.

Cheers once again Sindre, you are a magician and a saint, all in one. I don't look forward to having to do my customizations over again, but the benefits finally seem to far outweigh the drawbacks of a little extra work on my part.

Best to you as always,
-Brian

Hey sindre,

this "error" persists: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=15180

The Artist info is really great and beautiful but it results in mixed content warning when using ssl because subsonic includes links from last.fm directly. Would it be possible that the server fetches the artist info and then presents it to the client from "itself"?

Also I am really missing this: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=15182

Is there a chance we could have this combined view again? I think the Coverview lacks clear arrangement whereas the list view wastes a lot of space on wider screens and is not as visually pleasant.

The double set of alphabetical sorting bug still persists as well.

Hi,

Update from 5.1 to 5.2 goes without errors
5.2 (build 4411) – February 23, 2015
Apache Tomcat/8.0.18, java 1.8.0_31, Windows 7 64bit (war installation)

Subsonic runs fine after update but all media folders are not visible. I did rescan twice, amount of media is visible (same amount in 5.1), there is no errors in log file after rescan.

I have to rollback 5.1 which is working ok. (same problem 5.2 beta1)

What might cause this problem?
Before update i deleted war-file and subsonic directory from Tomcats webapps folder. Also deleted Catalina folder from work directory. Clear browser cache but no change in Subsonic gui, media folders are not visible.

@Magica,

read before update ! ( New: Media folder access management. Configure which folders each user is allowed to access ).

Install 5.2 goto users and see ( and select per user ) the new option : Allow access to these media folders
don't forget to click save after selection
