Error in streaming wmas to external players.

Postby Aegarius » Tue Aug 11, 2009 6:45 am

I'm using standalone 3.7 on a windows XP music server. Most of my files are wma.
When I have a player set for external player with playlist, it will download the playlist, start up WMP or Winamp (depending on the PC I'm using at the time) and will not show tag data for the wma files. It shows the word "stream" for each song in WMP, and shows the http stream link in Winamp. In fact, it scrolls the entire link in Winamp's title box. MP3s show their tag data correctly.

Anyone know a fix to this? Aside from converting my wmas to mp3s. :D

As a quick comment, Subsonic is the ONLY server I've found that can handle a library the size of mine without choking. Quite a program.

It's due to Entagged, the tag editor and parser Subsonic uses. It's fairly restricted to mp3s and development on the software has been discontinued. I hope Sindre might consider switching his tag parser to something more updated. At least something that will handle wmas, aacs/mp4s and perhaps flacs. I think I might not be alone in this! ;)
