HTTP ERROR: 503

Postby tornadotj » Fri Mar 06, 2015 6:59 pm

Hey all, I did a search but could not find anything specific to the exact problem I am having. This was working fine yesterday, but today it is broken. Whether on the localhost or on another computer on the network, when I try to go to http://ipaddress:4040, I get the following error.

HTTP ERROR: 503

SERVICE_UNAVAILABLE
RequestURI=/

Powered by jetty://

I am running on Windows 7, using the latest version of Subsonic.
I've tried IE 10 and Google Chrome
I have uninstalled and reinstalled, and no luck. I even tried installing to a different drive.
Java reports Version 8 Update 40.
I've rebooted of course, with no luck.

Last few lines of service log:
6771 [main] INFO org.mortbay.log - Started SelectChannelConnector@0.0.0.0:4040
Subsonic running on: http://localhost:4040/
6802 [main] INFO org.springframework.remoting.rmi.RmiServiceExporter - Looking for RMI registry at port '9412'

The entire agent log:
3 [main] INFO org.springframework.context.support.ClassPathXmlApplicationContext - Refreshing org.springframework.context.support.ClassPathXmlApplicationContext@6e1b77: display name [org.springframework.context.support.ClassPathXmlApplicationContext@6e1b77]; startup date [Fri Mar 06 06:46:34 CST 2015]; root of context hierarchy
234 [main] INFO org.springframework.beans.factory.xml.XmlBeanDefinitionReader - Loading XML bean definitions from class path resource [applicationContext-agent.xml]
1061 [main] INFO org.springframework.context.support.ClassPathXmlApplicationContext - Bean factory for application context [org.springframework.context.support.ClassPathXmlApplicationContext@6e1b77]: org.springframework.beans.factory.support.DefaultListableBeanFactory@8806ef
1155 [main] INFO org.springframework.beans.factory.support.DefaultListableBeanFactory - Pre-instantiating singletons in org.springframework.beans.factory.support.DefaultListableBeanFactory@8806ef: defining beans [service, agent, frame, settingsPanel, statusPanel]; root of factory hierarchy

Help please! I'm stumped!

Oh, and is there a way to change the service port?

I just ran into this exact same issue on Arch after updating. I can't figure out how to fix it. Did you ever figure it out?

No, it just started today. I was on an older Java (don't know what) and upgraded today after the error started, so I don't think it was Java. Like I said, it was just working a day or two ago, I don't know what happened.

What OS are you on? I suppose my Java was updated as well when I updated everything.

I posted my details in the original post. Windows 7. Note it was not working before I updated Java also. It was broken with no changes to the machine.

Ah, I even read that. I completely forgot. I've reinstalled twice with nothing. So far I've gotten to the point where subsonic starts as a process, and seems to work, but nothing comes up when I try to visit http://localhost:4040 or 8443.

Edit:
It's also worth noting that both ports appear to be closed. I'm not sure how to fix this.

Nearly 500 posts on this forum with '503' in the search term says otherwise. Here's but one..

Thank you, I must have been too specific in my searches because I couldn't find it. This worked. Saving the subsonic.script file and putting it back didn't save my settings, but I don't have a complex setup, so it was easy to manually reconfigure.

Excellent! Wonder why the script file save didn't work..I too don't have more than a few users, but I know some here have dozens or more. :o

I'm glad it worked for you, Tornadotj! And thanks for the link, alphawave7. Alas, I tried the subsonic.script method before and it did not work for me, perhaps because I did it incorrectly.

For now, I guess I'm stuck with my new problem, which I will continue to search the forums about.
