Command line subsonic client?

Postby sardaukar » Wed Mar 11, 2015 12:38 pm

Hello!

I'd like to add a Raspberry Pi to my home Subsonic setup. Right now, I have the server installed on a NAS and I use the web frontend and the flash player to play music on my laptop, but I'd like to run something on my Pi to make it show up on the web frontend as another player, and just add music to it from the web frontend and have the output on the Pi.

Is this possible? Thanks for any help!

I dunno if I'm understand...but you need to install subsonic on the Raspberry, turn on the jukebox mode and connect the Raspberry to your speakers. With the jukebox you can control the music coming out of the Pi from the web player (or any device)

I don't want to have 2 subsonic installations at home. I only need one server, right?

What I'd like is to have the Raspberry Pi turn on, connect to the server (running on my NAS) and then, on my laptop, I could select the subsonic player running on the Pi, and queue up songs to it. After connecting some speakers to the Pi, it would be like a remote controller player.

Is this possible?

i've thought about adding a remote control feature in SubFire, using either the bookmarks api or a new server .war file that one can drop into the Subsonic Jetty instance to handle the websocket (or other) communications...but if I start it at all it'll be a few months away, as right now I'm trying to get SubFire to its 1.0, add another feature (browsing by artists->albums via ID3), then I have a vacation, then I may start first on a 'kids-friendly' client. Now THAT may have a good reason to build that remote control, as it could allow the parent to queue up the songs while just leaving the kid with the ability to previous/next/replay them.
