No Music showing, but does scan it

Postby zanzabonic » Sun Sep 20, 2015 1:40 pm

I recent needed to redo my server due to hdd failure and with that I had to reinstall subsonic ( so this isn't my first go around ). I mounted my harddrive under /mnt/public/Music and I gave ownership to my user account with

Code: Select all
chown -R zac /mnt/public/Music

I then double checked that my users settings where correct

Code: Select all
zac@Ubuntu-Server:~$ ls -la /mnt/public/
total 60
drwxrwxr-x   6 zac  root  4096 Sep 18 07:22 .
drwxr-xr-x   3 root root  4096 Sep 16 04:14 ..
drwxrwxr-x   4 zac  zac   4096 Sep  7 20:54 Movies
drwxrwxr-x 875 zac  zac  36864 Sep 18 05:54 Music
drwxr-xr-x   3 zac  zac   4096 Sep 18 07:10 Podcasts
drwxrwxr-x   3 zac  zac   4096 Sep 10 12:59 TV Shows
zac@Ubuntu-Server:~$

I installed the latest non-beta version of subsonic by downloading the dpkg from the server and following the instruction on the website for java + the package itself.

I moved the user account from root to zac as suggested in the instruction and setup process.

I setup my directories to search /mnt/public/Music for all my music.

Subsonic scanned my directories for all my files.

Back to my home page and I see this off to the left

915 artists
1,841 albums
12,380 songs
74.35 GB
818 hours

I believe at this point the music would show up and I could listen to it but that is not the case.

I go to about to see my error logs and I see this

[9/20/15 6:15:11 AM PDT] INFO RESTRequestParameterProcessingFilter Authentication failed for user zac
[9/20/15 6:16:12 AM PDT] INFO RESTRequestParameterProcessingFilter Authentication failed for user zac

[9/20/15 6:17:29 AM PDT] INFO RESTRequestParameterProcessingFilter Authentication failed for user zac
[9/20/15 6:17:39 AM PDT] INFO RESTRequestParameterProcessingFilter Authentication failed for user zac

and I am not sure why I am getting authentication failed for user zac. I tried switching over to the admin account on subsonic and that didnt help, I tried changing passwords around for zac, I tried switching the user account for subsonic back to root as well. None of these things seemed to want to help.

I also tried to setup a podcast to see if I could get streaming to work. I created a webbased player & an external player. After setting up and downloading the prodcast episodes I wanted. Doubled check to make sure everything was downloaded

zac@Ubuntu-Server:/mnt/public/Podcasts/1 Player podcast$ ls -la

But I could not get any of the podcasts to play. The podcasts would not add to the players either webbased or external through winamp.

At this point I don't know what else to try and I would be interested to see what people have to say about it.

Let me know what you think or if you could point me in the correct direction. I am starting to have withdrawals from my music.

So I updated to the latest version 5.3.beta2 (build 4546) – August 17, 2015 Hopeing that it would help.

It didn't help.

However I did notice one thing that did change.

Originally I was getting the following errors:

[9/20/15 6:17:29 AM PDT] INFO RESTRequestParameterProcessingFilter Authentication failed for user zac
[9/20/15 6:17:39 AM PDT] INFO RESTRequestParameterProcessingFilter Authentication failed for user zac

Now I am getting this error:

9/22/15 2:52:51 PM PDT] INFO LoginFailureLogger Login failed for [zac] from [192.168.1.103]
[9/22/15 2:52:56 PM PDT] INFO LoginFailureLogger Login failed for [zac] from [192.168.1.103]

[9/22/15 2:53:01 PM PDT] INFO LoginFailureLogger Login failed for [zac] from [192.168.1.103]
[9/22/15 2:53:02 PM PDT] INFO PodcastService Starting scheduled Podcast refresh.
[9/22/15 2:53:02 PM PDT] INFO PodcastService Completed scheduled Podcast refresh.
[9/22/15 2:53:04 PM PDT] INFO PodcastService No enclosure found for episode Crash Landing - Using Rory’s Stroy Cubes with Cosmic Patrol
[9/22/15 2:53:04 PM PDT] INFO PodcastService No enclosure found for episode Future episodes?
[9/22/15 2:53:04 PM PDT] INFO PodcastService No enclosure found for episode Mouse Guard: Fall 1152 – The Grain Peddler
[9/22/15 2:53:06 PM PDT] INFO LoginFailureLogger Login failed for [zac] from [192.168.1.103]
[9/22/15 2:53:10 PM PDT] INFO LoginFailureLogger Login failed for [zac] from [192.168.1.103]

Not sure how I could be logged in as myself but still causing login failures. I tried logging out and loggin back in as well as logging in as Admin but didn't see any new lines come up on the log file.

Anyone have any ideas of what I should be trying/doing?

I have never played with a Linux version, but I'm sure all the settings may be same if access from the web browser. Anyway, I'm using windows version. Through the web browser, I have to go into setting and user to check what folder "Allow access to these media folders" the user can have access.

Using a web browser to access my subsonic. In my setup, in Settings ---> under Media Folders ---> I have Name = Music, Folder = M:\Music\
then I go into create user, and I check off what folder ("Allow access to these media folders") my new user is going to have access. So in my case, I let the user have access to the name called "Music"

The 5.2.1 version is new as far as specifying what access the subsonic user may have.

That fixed it. I had created the users before I had setup the music.

Linux / Windows all came down to the same settings. I can't believe I missed it and didn't remember having to do that before.

Thanks
