Dragging tracks on long Now Playing lists causes weird stuff

Postby grumpwagon » Thu Oct 01, 2015 5:59 pm

I created a long playlist of music on the web interface, then "play shuffled" it in dsub. After listening to a bunch of those songs, I added several podcast episodes via "Play Next" . They added correctly, where I'd expect, and played when expected (although as a separate issue, sometimes if you play next when a song is almost over, it skips over the next track. This has happened for a long time).

After listening to them, some but not all of them disappeared from the playlist. "Remove played songs" is not checked.

Also, I accidentally chose play last for one of the podcasts. I dragged it way up through several screens of songs. That appeared to work, but when I let go and scrolled back down to the bottom, the podcast is still there. I then scrolled back up to where I moved the podcast, and it is gone. Just now, to make sure this was still happening, I did it. It happened, but then after the screen timed out, the track moved to where I moved it to.

I will take a look at all three issues and see if I can reproduce/fix them for you in the next release.

I wasn't able to reproduce the play next thing, but I think I found a possible cause. Can you try out this debug version and let me know if it still happens for you?

Seems like it still is. I just installed it over the top and tried to move a podcast around in the existing "Now Playing" playlist. I did not re-add (re-play shuffled) the playlist. I can do that shortly.

I meant for the play next thing. That was all I have looked at so far.

/\/\/\ Posted this before I read your post. Which issue do you mean? The podcasts disappearing after they've been played? I can't reproduce that on demand, so I'm not sure if your fix worked or not. I'll keep watching out for it.

I just reproduced the issue with the beta and a completely different device (Nexus 7 rather than LG G2) using the same playlist.

I'm sure a lot of these details are unimportant, but just to confirm that we're doing the same thing, this is exactly what I'm doing:

1) Create a long playlist on a computer through the web interface. My playlist is 188 songs, full albums in order, one after the other, unshuffled.

2) Open dsub, swipe out the side menu, click playlists.

3) Tap the playlist we just created. Click the shuffle button. Pause playback.

4) Swipe out the side menu, click podcasts. Select a show. On the show's page, tap the overflow menu for a specific episode, tap play last.

5) Tap the now playing section on the bottom of the screen. Tap the 3 lines to hide the album art and see the full list.

6) Scroll to the bottom of the list. Long press the podcast, move it up the list a few songs. Don't let the device time out.

7) Scroll back to the top of the list. Scroll back to the bottom of the list. I'd expect the podcast to not be at the bottom of the list, but it is.

This seems to be cosmetic only. If you then let the device time out (or press the power button), then turn the device back on, the song is in the correct spot of the list. If you drag the podcast all the way up to play next, but don't let the device sleep, dsub will play the podcast next, but the triangle icon will appear next to the podcast at the bottom of the list.

Thank you for the step by step guide. I should be able to reproduce that fairly easily and fix it soon. The beta I posted was only to fix this issue you talked about: "although as a separate issue, sometimes if you play next when a song is almost over, it skips over the next track. This has happened for a long time". I know you said sometimes so it's difficult to say for 100% sure it is fixed, but keep an eye out for it for me so I can tell whether or not I fixed it.
