I too have had an A record in my DNS pointing to a custom subdomain: music.********.com. One advantage I see of the custom URL function is that shares will now (based on my custom URL) have a URL pattern http://music.*******.com/xxxx instead of http://******.subsonic.org/xxxx. I like that.
However, I input my custom URL and when saving in Subsonic it throws a 404 error, even though the URL is valid both internally and externally, so there seems to be something amiss with this feature.
