Subsonic 3.7 crashes Firefox 3.5.1 & IE 8.0 on load

Postby smo@obersite.com » Wed Jul 22, 2009 7:34 pm

I've been using Subsonic 3.6 for a while now. It works well.

I was excited to see the invite to use 3.7 when I restarted Subsonic recently.

I downloaded and installed 3.7, but, both Firefox and IE immediately crash when I try to load the starting page.

You see the left frame come up, but, then both programs crash.

I reverted back to 3.6 and everything works fine again.

Any ideas?

have you tried to empty the browser cache and cookies before loading subsonic in the browser? maybe some old settings confuse the new 'sonic.

Hi
I tried to use the demo version with Firefox 3.5.1. It crashes immediately when loading the main page. :?
Tried IE 6 as well. Loads the subsonic main page of the demo but after half a minute IE crashes without any input from me.
I hope you can fix the problem or tell what I am doing wrong because it looks like a perfect program for me.
Regards Jan

No help on this topic?
Right now I have to stick to 3.6.
3.7 has some new features I would like to use.
If I disable the shockwave flash plug-in the page is loaded. Otherwise FF crashes. Also tried to empty FF cache. Same result.

well the problem seems to be your your browsers so theres not really a lot of help we can give you, i shouldnt think its subsonic thats giving you problems.
But you should try to reinstall flash as subsonic loads when you disable it.

have you tried with FF 3.0?
and did you make a fresh install of subsonic 3.7 or did you keep the settings of 3.6 (installed over old version)? did reinstalling flash work for you?

I am running FF 3.5.2. I have reinstalled flash.
I am using same combination on other PCs and it works well.
It is with demo version on http://subsonic.sourceforge.net/ I have the problem. Same problem with IE6. Very irritating :x
I am running 3.6 on my own server without problems. But I would like to upgrade. Some good features in 3.7.
Running flash on other WEB pages works fine.

Ar...3.7 is still broken.

Postby smo@obersite.com » Sun Sep 06, 2009 10:08 pm

I'm now running Firefox 3.5.2 / IE 8.0.6001.18813.

I have the latest JVM and latest Flash.

Subsonic 3.7 still kills both browsers.

Version 3.6 works fine.

I guess no one cares... too bad, up to now it's been a great program.

What do you mean no one cares? There were 6 replies to your thread, but it seems you did not acknowledge them. Have tried some of the solutions suggested? Did you clear your cache? That was suggested to you two months ago...

FWIW, I too have IE8 & FF 3.5.2, however, my current version of IE8 is newer than yours (perhaps you need to install your Windows Updates) and neither of them are crashing so I cannot reproduce your problem. My current IE is 8.0.7100.0. So if clearing your cache doesn't work, try upgrading to the latest version of your browser.

Ha ha.... 6 replies almost all with the same problem... lol...

I'm now running Firefox 3.5.5 and IE 8.0.6001.18828

Both crash on on loading the multi-frame Subsonic main navigation page.

The left frame and the flash player frames load, but, when the top frame starts to load, both browsers crash.... It's cool that two different browsers by completely different companies crash at exactly the same spot. Maybe they are collaborating...

I have re-installed Firefox, have the latest Microsoft update installed and have re-installed Flash, & I have the latest JVM.

Cache and History are cleared. All plug-ins disabled.

You can't really be serious that I'm not at least trying...

Version 3.6 still works great in both browsers.

I guess I'll just always be stuck on version 3.6.... I hope it doesn't fail...

Maybe version 4.0 will clear up the problem or someone might know some registry magic that will make it all play nice...

Or, even a debug version.... what a thought...

I only really check back here when a new version is announced on the load of the version 3.6 navigation page.
