SubFire 1.4.4 - Internet Radio

Postby acroyear » Tue Feb 02, 2016 3:39 am

With the closure of Live365, some of the stations I really liked (well, one of them so far, Muppet Central Radio) have moved to places like Radionomy or TunedIn, which allow one to play directly from a streaming .m3u link. In other words, they can be registered as internet radio stations in one's Subsonic instance.

That being so, I now had a use-case for adding internet radio stations to SubFire. Support is basic (there's only so much one can do with a URL and a name), but for Radionomy stations, it seems to be working. One issue is that since it is just the raw stream of music, I don't get updates for title/artist/album-art changes...but hey, that's what radio was like when we were kids, 'eh? Or am I just old...

As such, I've released it as a 'beta' feature. Currently out on the web, Chrome, and Firefox. FireTV should be coming soon (I've tested it on the TV and the debugging APK they make, and it seems to be working).

A minor 1.4.5 was released, allowing one to turn off the radio feature to save screen space. Based on the fact that few even noticed the internet radio stuff was missing in the new beta, I'm guessing it isn't that necessary a feature on a client, so why waste the real estate?
