Does my computer need to be on?

Hello, folks of the interwebs.

I know this is probably the most newbie question of them all, but I don't rightly understand how subsonic works.
Do I install it on a PC, and have it turned on the whole time, or are we talking a one time kind of thing?

If you're referring to the Subsonic server, it needs to be on in order for the files to be available for streaming.

My server has been on pretty much 24/7 for 3 years.
