Subsonic 6.0.beta1 released

Ok, downloaded the beta to give it a spin.

It correctly found and scanned my media library.

None of it, however, shows up in the ui.

Well, not quite true - it knows, for example, that there are 170 albums in "Rock" genre. Doesn't show any of them.

Index page? Empty.

Recently added? Empty.

Restarted, rescanned, played with display settings - all failed.

So, back to 5.3.

Can there be an album index view - displayed the same way as the artists, but all the albums alphabetically?

I was about to update my subsonic instance but then I saw the demo and users' feedback.

I can say without a doubt that the missing folder list on the left panel is a showstopper for me.
I need it and consider it as the root tool for the "large music collections" usage of Subsonic itself.

Please consider bringing it back just the way it was before in upcoming releases.

I've been using Subsonic for the last 4 years and really enjoyed it. The upgrade to the version 6.0 was not really what i expected. I deeply miss the left Panel and would like to know if it's possible to (at least) have it back as an option. Almost all of my 32 users are using both web interface and mobile version with Isub. When reading previous post looks like i'm not the only one.

I'm not critisizing it's just my point of view.

-video, i have a video that is h.264, it take about 20 minutes to transcode it to a streamable file. after the conversion, i am unable to stream the file because the lag ,the video bit rate is too high for my server internet connection where is the bitrate control ?. With version 5.3 the video stream perfectly ???
i am now losing main feature of subsonic used to stream video over internet to my cottage.

Bug #1 for me is the external player support.
External player no longer/Still doesn't work. It passes the server's local ip address to the player instead of the external ip address. This stopped working in 5.3 final. It worked in 5.3.beta2.

Congratulations with a new version. I really enjoy the change to html5 because it makes it possible to open shared links on android phones. Thanks!

I miss the alphabetical artist list in the left panel, though. The index view with artists listed alphabetically in three columns is disorienting. I would be very happy if the alphabetical single-column view in the left panel was brought back.

Also, one of my users reported that the sonos feature stopped working for him a couple of updates ago, I'm not sure if this is working again. I believe I read a few posts here reporting the same issue.

edit: Also, the last played list seems to be a bit buggy in this version. A lot of things doesn't show up, both things I've played myself and things my users have been playing.
And finally (I think) album art is so small now, even when I zoom in. I like to have high resolution album art so I can look at it properly.

so far its sounding like windows 8 ...lol
too much too quick and not what the users wanted...
i expect to be seeing a step back to the older look and keeping some of the new functionality.
maybe add a few new layouts for the new look and keep old ones for those who like, with the ability to turn on and off the BIG list
we all love the ability to have apple devices view movies now but dont like the conversion factor.

Very long time subsonic user here, made an account to share my 2cents as this was such a drastically different release. Thoughts:

Interface looks great
Left-side index definitely needs to be a toggle option, and I'd say default ON.
Subtitle support is a very exciting addition for me. THANK YOU!!! Though they are a little bulky on the video.
Video conversion is an issue. I'd like a way to set up auto-converts, at the least, with an option to delete the source file. Though it would be best to just use the file as it is. Shame if that can't technically be done.

All in all, great work Sindre. Excited for official release.

I cannot get music to play on a work computer. I've tried Chrome, Firefox, and I.E. Jamstash plays the files fine, and D-sub is working. Any suggestions?

Been using the 6.0.beta1 for some days now and no other issues so far except I agree with the previous poster that the sidebar should be an always on/always off choice as well.

Personally I love the new interface I'd much rather have something cleaner.

I tend to use the Search or just browse recently added / random albums. I rarely use the Index so don't miss it one bit.
I'd love to bin the Chat on the right-pane as that just wastes screen space (for me)

Thank you! You can turn off both the "Chat" and the "Now playing" panels in the settings to make the right-hand side panel go away.
