No longer connects outside of LAN

Postby saecrow » Mon Feb 29, 2016 10:22 pm

Hi,
A few weeks ago while listening to subsonic via android app while driving, it just stopped playing. Ever since, I have not been able to connect while outside my LAN (connection over WIFI at home works fine). I've never had any problems but I can't seem to get connected from outside my home network (server timeouts). I've gone through all the port forwarding settings a million times - I've tried 8080, 4040 and with both I get the "Successfully forwarding port XXXX" and "Successfully registered web address" messages. The subsonic exceptions have been allowed (have always been) in the windows firewall. . . I can't figure this out. The subsonic server is running on Windows Vista (has been for years flawlessly). Does anyone know how I can get this working again? Here's a link to a capture of my port forward settings http://1drv.ms/1OJqWK6.
Thanks for any help you guys can provide!

Subsonic only tests locally, not WAN, so you need to do that yourself with canyouseeme.org for 8080. Open the port on your router config, reboot router, then test at canyouseeme.org for 8080. Only when it passes that test will SS work over WAN.

Thanks for the starting point. . . looks like you've got me heading in the right direction as the report from canyouseeme.org returns ERROR (connection timed out). So my router / router settings must be the issue. I'm not sure what could have changed. My current settings are External Port 8080, Internal Port 8080, Protocol UDP, pointing to my static IP running SS and the Enabled checkbox checked. Anything stand out? I've tried changing UDP to TCP/Both, put then it fails the local test - but if that's what I need to change just let me know.

I appreciate it!

I got it. . . turns out my replacement / upgraded cable modem from Brighthouse put me behind a second firewall - I had to DMZ the Brighthouse cable modem and point it to my Linksys router that has the port forwarding configured (didn't have to do that with the original cable modem). Subsonic lives! Finally!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks!
