Search: Issue if search string contains an apostrophe

Postby arno1979 » Tue Apr 05, 2016 10:45 am

Hi,

I just wanted to quickly inquire about one issue I am having with the otherwise great DSub:
When using a search string containing an apostrophe I am not getting the desired results, i.e. the search is not returning the album I am looking for.

In my case it's a soundtrack for a film called "I'm not there". As the artist for this release is "Various Artists" it makes it nearly impossible to actually find this album.

I checked in the web fronted for my ampache installation and the problem does not occur there. Searching for "I'm not there" works as expected.

Any ideas on this issue? Is it a bug in DSub or is there a trick I can use to modify my search string so it will return the desired results?

Thanks
Arno

I tried that and it doesn't work. As far as I can tell the search engine does not find a given string if it doesn't start with the value stored in the database!
That's actually another handicap I just discovered. This goes for artists as well: A search for "Zappa" will return no results while searching for "Frank Zappa" works.
Again: The ampache web interface has no such problems...

Shall I report this as a bug on the GitHub issue tracker?

All the best
Arno
