Anyone else having trouble with Subsonic not reading itunes encoded m4a/aac tags? This results in last.fm scrobbling not making it through althogh the subsonic log claims the tracks are successfully scrobbled.

Anyone cracked this one?

Not sure if this is helpful, but I ended up using Media Monkey to encode all my files to MP3 to avoid doing transcoding.

Not really a solution but a workaround I guess... not that great of one :)

Jonathan,

I was kinda hoping not having to go to the 'trouble'. I guess what I'm looking for is extended tag encoding support in subsonic. Perhaps I should move this over to the request section.

Thanks anyway.

I have noticed this as well. Did you find any solutions for this? I would love to know simply because a large portion of my files are m4a and it sort of skews my last.fm profile... Thanks!

Sorry colli419. I located the 'problem' and it's a limitation of Subsonic's tag encoder and parser, Entagged. Unfortunately development of Entagged has been discontinued and until it is exchanged for something else, I think we're stuck with work-arounds.

The files pla, and I'mnot a heavy user og last.fm so I haven't done anything about it yet. Waiting patiently for the tag parser issue to hit the top of Sindres TO DO list! ;)

Thanks for the reply. Too bad, are you implying the solution is to spam Sindre?

Cheers

Ha ha, not exactly. Looks like an alternative has been located:

http://subsonic.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/subsonic/trunk/subsonic-main/TODO.TXT?view=markup

...and it looks like it's due in 3.8. Let's keep our fingers crossed that it's not too far off! ;)
