Sound and popup notifications for chat

When people chat with me on the web interface I don't even know it! I hope we can add notifications and even sound. I also hope we can allow people to disable those if they don't like it.

Notifications I can see. It is a standard API (that the browser itself controls turning on or off) and already done with playing music. I wouldn't want notifications to have sound, though. If I'm listening to music, the last thing I want is a "beep" that is mostly (but not entirely) a dissonant tritone away from the music I'm listening to.

Agreed. I would love to have visual and audio notifications. But they would need to be independently toggled, as there would certainly be users who would not want them, or who would want one form of notification but no the other.
6.0 looks great, by the way.
