Issues with Subsonic and WAZE app on Android

Postby grenex » Tue May 03, 2016 10:12 pm

I use subsonic to play my music in the car (well..to play it EVERYWHERE actually!)

WHen I have my WAZE app running and voice prompts are turned on for turn by turn directions, the Subsonic volume is slightly muted, but the voice command is muted too.

I have tried this with Other Nav apps with Pandora and other players and it works fine. Seems to be combo of WAZE and Subsonic

Anyone else?

Waze was disruptive with several other music players I had, including Live365 and Radionomy, as well as the official Subsonic Android app and my own SubFire (doesn't matter which browser engine was running it). I just gave up on Waze entirely and went back to Google maps.

So yeah, it happens on other apps, and not much you can do about it. There's a weird hardware-software relationship around sound mixing that seems to have changed in Android 4.4 (Waze worked for me in 4.2 without disrupting) and I don't know enough about Android programming at that level to know how to detect and handle it. You might want to try some of the other apps for Android and see if they improved things. While some are only for sale at Google Play Store, others might have their APK files available to side-load.

well...that sucks. I guess I wont use Subsonic when depending on turn by turn navigation. Waze is infinately better than Google maps when traveling rural and city areas and needing to know about hazards, police, and last minute traffic info

It may also be of benefit to complain on the Google 'Waze' group, as the engineers should know about compatibility issues to be able to fix them. Currently, the latest Waze update ignores the fact I already have Location ON, and prompts me to turn it on. I also NEVER navigate, and it's not smart enough to know this, and always prompts me to navigate. 3 years and 477004 points, never navigated...but no, ask me daily!
