Scan Media Folders Schedule

Postby burn913 » Thu Sep 29, 2016 3:06 pm

I have been an avid Subsonic user for a few years now. I have it installed on a fedora based system. I don't need to have Subsonic scan my media folders too often. I currently have it scan the folders every 2 weeks. My question is: is there any way to tell when the next scheduled scan is going to occur? I find myself guessing at the day and time that it's going to occur to try to to make any changes that I want before the scan. It would be much easier if I could tell that the scan would commence on Tuesday, October xx at xx:xx pm or something like that.

Thanks

If you don't require frequent scans, why not just disable automatic scanning and start a scan manually whenever you add or change something in your library?

I like to do manual scans everytime I do a major change to my library.
It is less stress on the drive array that way

I make relatively frequent changes to my music library, but i don't need Subsonic to rescan my library every time I make a change. I could easily make 2 or 3 changes to my library in a week. This could be fixing incorrect tags, replacing crappy album artwork or adding new music. I do a little here, a little there whenever i have time. But I don't want to rescan the entire drive several times per week. Once every two weeks is pretty good, and is what i have it set on now. I understand what you're both saying, and may switch to just rescanning on my own schedule, but I fear that i'll end up rescanning too often unless I actually use a calendar to mark when i should manually rescan. It doesn't seem too much to ask for it to do that for you. No one has really addressed my question, so I'm guessing that there's just no way to find when the next scan is scheduled.

I don't know if this is of any help:
When you check the Subsonic logfile you can see on what date and time Subsonic has scanned your drives.
Or you just could go to settings and adjust the scanninginterval and save the setting.
On the About-page you can check the logfile and find something like:
Automatic media library scanning scheduled to run every 14 day(s), starting at Thu Oct 06 04:00:00 CEST 2016
I admit there's no countdownfunction in Subsonic but a quick glimpse at the logfile will show you when the next folderscan is due.
