Ubuntu 16.04 xenial, how to setup subsonic

I recently upgraded to ubuntu 16.04. Subsonic server is now kaput!

I'm using UbuntuUpdates for the PPA http://www.ubuntuupdates.org/package/ge ... b/subsonic
(6.0-1~getdeb1)

Installed those package list from here http://www.ubuntuupdates.org/ppa/getdeb ... ist=xenial

Looks like it clearly has something to do with the error of /etc/init.d/subsonic, but I can't really find anything wrong in them. There haven't been any entries to any of the log files in /var/subsonic, they're all dated a few days ago.

sudo service subsonic restart
doesn't do anything

sudo systemctl start subsonic.service
doesn't do anything

there aren't any notes about 'subsonic' in the /var/log/messages either.

any ideas on where to start looking next? Thanks!

downloaded version 6.0.deb from Subsonic, and did a sudo dpkg -i subsonic.deb and that seems to have done the trick. Which I had that PPA going. Ah well.

the package subsonic got added to the apt-get repositories. Now whenever I do an apt-get update, then upgrade, it tries to "upgrade" to the 6.0-1~getdeb1 version from the ubuntuupdates.org repository. I've put a hold on the package, and now the other dependencies are reporting as they're unneeded and should be auto-removed (flac, vorbis, etc.). Doh!

Any other suggestions on how to make this installation a little less janky?

Any updates on this? I'm looking install Subsonic on Linux Mint 18 and hope to avoid these pitfalls.

Nothing new here. I did the install from the dpkg from subsonic.org download page. That one worked great, and is still working fine.
