Subsonic running cmd.exe, netstat.exe and route.exe

Postby k00zk0 » Sun Dec 25, 2016 9:54 am

Why is subsonic running these processes? They start and stop when the control panel is used to start and stop the server. Security Task Manager by Neuber confirms that their parent process is subsonic-service.exe.

CMD.EXE for Lame for transcoding.
Route exe and Netstat.exe for the webserver to stream and respond to commands / requests.

Well that makes sense, but this is new. Previous versions of the software over past years didn't have to run netstat and route 24/7 even when nobody is connected. Other server type applications don't have to run these processes. Why is it done with this method?

My guess is an optimization choice: with servers with more memory, keeping the process running at all times is probably more efficient than always starting/stopping it.

But that's just a guess.

Now, if you stop Subsonic service and those processes don't 'die' with it, then that might be a bug.
