Can't get music to start

Postby Rambobafet » Sun May 22, 2016 3:32 pm

Hi @all,

That's my first time trying to use Subsonic, so I may have miss something during setup.
My Subsonic app is on a raspberry (so Debian), up and running using port 4040.

Code: Select all
Version   6.0 (build a7857c) – April 30, 2016
Server   jetty-6.1.x, java 1.8.0_91, Linux (80.7 MB / 127.0 MB)

I can access the application through Firefox or Chrome, or Subsonic for Android.
I scanned my music folder, and it looks like everything fine with ~8000 files found (*woot*).

Code: Select all
Media collection   437 artists
829 albums
5,624 songs
40.70 GB
505 hours

But, when I try to play a song, nothing starts. The loading gif besides the song name keeps turning.
If I browse the alphabetical index, folders are shown, but they're all empty.
On the android application, i also can see the folders, but they are all empty.

In the browser's console, when I click on "play" I get a :
Code: Select all
500 on GET /http://192.168.1.26:4040/stream?player=1&id=1329&auth=1041....

OR

Request URL:http://80.119.XXX.YY:4040/stream?player=8&id=6901&auth=209509....
Request Method:GET
Status Code:206 Partial Content

But nothing shows in the log:
Code: Select all

I cleaned the db, and start a new scan but nothings changed.
If i download a Podcast, i can read it.

Oh, and if I try to listen an internet radio, it fails with this message and this log :

Any idea of what I could have missed ?
Thanks ♥

Hi again,

The device where I stocked my files where on a NTFS partition, and I think that it may be the source of problem. That, or a permission problem.
I switched to an ext4 partition, and I could get the music to start !

I'll try some other things to get along with the NTFS :)

So what about the "html5: Video not properly encoded" message? Did that go away too? Are you now able to listen to Internet Radio stations through Subsonic? I ask because I get the same message when I try.

Hi !

So I finally managed to get the music to starts.
First of all, I did have a problem of rights access and I fixed it by mounting the Drive with corrects parameters (ntfs-3g) + setting the automount.

But I still had a problem with non mp3 files and radio.
I found this link : https://mj2p.co.uk/install-subsonic-media-streaming-server-on-a-raspberry-pi/ who explains that ffmpeg and lame preinstalled are not compatible with a raspberry. So just have to install them and replace the one in /var/subsonic/transcode.

Now, i can listen musics, and that's great. ♥

Hi,

I have just gone through the process of setting up a subsonic server on a Raspberry Pi 2+ and thought I'd share some notes...

OS: Raspbian GNU/Linux 7 (wheezy)
Subsonic: 6.0 (build a7857c) – April 30, 2016

My first hurdle was to go in Subsonic broswer, Settings -> User, select me (admin) and give myself access to my media folder - it was not enabled by default.

Secondly, the above version of Raspbian does not come with ffmpeg installed, nor can you simply install it with `sudo apt-get install ffmpeg`. This should not matter anyway as Subsonic comes with its own binary of ffmpeg located in /var/subsonic/transcode/.

Nevertheless, I would get errors such as this when attempting to play non-MP3 files:

Code: Select all
INFO InputStreamReaderThread - (/var/subsonic/transcode/ffmpeg) /var/subsonic/transcode/ffmpeg: 1: /var/subsonic/transcode/ffmpeg: Syntax error: "(" unexpected

I was able to recreate the error when executing the same command on the pi command line, e.g.:

Code: Select all
sudo /var/subsonic/transcode/ffmpeg -i /mnt/Music/Music/Cave/Psychic Psummer/01 Gamm.m4a -map 0:0 -b:a 320k -v 0 -f mp3 -

So there seems to be a problem with the Subsonic packaged ffmpeg....

The solution for me was to `sudo apt-get install libav-tools` and then in Subsonic browser -> Settings -> Transcoding, change the command in "Step 1" from `ffmpeg` to `avconv`. Apparently no need to change anything else as avconv take the same arguments as ffmpeg.

Hope that helps....
