Web pager not loading

Postby Oc9nBd9s » Fri Jan 13, 2017 1:47 pm

I had not used subsonic in a few weeks and when I tried to login the web page does not load. I get a generic browser message saying the site cannot be reached. I tried both http and https addresses for the site. I cycled the service, rebooted the machine, reinstalled the application over top of its self, disabled the firewall, and reset the application via its control panel to the default ports and context path. I am running on Windows. I have verified the service is running. The executable shows up in task manager consuming CPU and memory. I do not see any error messages or warning in either subsonic-agent.log or subsonic-service.log. The Subsonic Control Panel is launching and loading, however it is red in the system tray. Service status shows "Running. Auto-start." Started on and Memory used are blank as is error message. I also tried increasing the memory in the Subsonic control panel to 900 MB and restarted the service. TaskManager shows it is using about 45 MB, but wanted to rule that out as well.

At this point I am suspecting DB corruption. Guessing I need to uninstall the application, delete all of the config and DB files, reboot, reinstall, and start from scratch. Wanted to check and see if anyone has any other ideas before I do that. I have a large collection and it took about 24 hours last time to get it all cataloged. Afraid I may go thorough this and be back to where I am now in a few weeks. Any ideas?

It sure looks like your DB is corrupt.
You did everything one could do to get the server running again so it must be your DB.
I guess you also can't logon to Subsonic on the server itself?
There are various reasons for DB corruption:
Not stopping the Subsonic service properly before shutting down your server.
It seems that subscriptions to podcast can lead to DB corruption.
I managed once to get my DB corrupt by performing a DB cleanup AND a folderscan at the same time.
And of course it could be a hardwareproblem like faulty memory or bad blocks or damaged sectors on your harddrive.
