ID3v2.4 Support with Multi-field Artists & Genres.

So, now the beta has been released and still no useful genre support
Is it that the developer need (more) Money? I would Support them if it helps.

I'm adding my support to these changes. I would love to use genres as a kind of "auto playlist," enabling me to tag songs with multiple genres and have those tracks eligible for playback on genre radio for all the tagged genres.

SubFireRadio can do this. - http://subfireplayer.net/radio

Create stations using the generator "Random Songs" and in that, you can select your genres. Save it, then click "Generate" to produce the random playlist. Visit again regularly to re-shuffle or when you have new stuff to include.

I don't pre-select the genres the way Subsonic's tag editor does. I only use the genres you actually have in your system.

It is a search box, and it produces the exact matches of what you have. Because Subsonic doesn't support ID3v24 multi-field, the dividers are simply part of the genre's text.

No. We're limited to what the API exposes, which is pretty much just album, artist, title, year, genre (the same fields you see in the tag editor). I personally would love Composer, Conductor, and Grouping (I use those to bundle classical works together but separate them from albums - e.g., the 4 movements of Beethoven's 5th share the group value 'Symphony 5', to be able to keep them bundled separate from the 4 tracks that are Symphony 7 on the same CD). But for now, this is what we have.

I too have been hoping for this feature for years. Perhaps employ a delimiter designation option in the settings menu so that users can specify what character separates genres within the genre tags of their library?
It's the one feature I've always wished Subsonic could support.
