Keep Losing connection

Postby eightcastles » Thu Mar 23, 2017 12:31 pm

Hi There, I have no problem with my connection at home when I am on the same network, but I am losing my connection via 4G often. I can get it back by 1) restarting my computer 2) stopping and restarting subsonic service or 3) Unchecking box to automatically configure router, then save, then checking it again and save.

I really believe that this is not a problem with subsonic, but a windows 10 setting?

Any ideas?

Thanks, Rick

When you mean that the machine that's running Subsonic is a Windows 10 computer, you might have a look at the energy settings.
In WIndows 10 all energy settings are standard configured to preserve much energy. ( switching to standby, disabling networkadapters, stopping the hard disk etc. )
Could well be that the loss of connectivity is because Windows shut down the network adapter or switches to standby.
I would advice you to switch of all energy-saving and go for maximum performance.
If that solves your problem you could fine tune the energy settings in a later moment.

Thank you toolman. Yes, the subsonic computer is Windows 10, power settings are already set to maximum performance. Is there anything else I can check? Thanks fro your help, Rick

Anything showing in the logfiles while streaming to your device?
I wouldn't go for Subsonic to automatically configure the router, but I would manually set up a port forwarding to the Subsonic server.
Also I would make sure that either the server gets a fixed Ip-adress by reservation in DHCP or by setting it manually if your router has no options to assign the same ip-address to the same computer every time.
And I really have to ask:
Are you sure the problem isn't in your 4G connection?
