play:Sub 1.7 (iOS): New App Icon, Bookmarks, Play Next.

Postby Michael Bech Hansen » Tue Dec 20, 2016 7:51 pm

Hi all,

Another version of play:Sub has just been released on the App Store.

App Icon, Bookmarks, Play Next.

NEW APP ICON
New app icon contributed by Luca Oltenau. Thanks a lot!

SUBSONIC BOOKMARK SUPPORT
Server-based bookmarks allowing you to pause and bookmark on one device, and resume playback on another device exactly where you left off.
play:Sub supports both manual bookmarking, and an automatic bookmarking mode so you dont have to remember to set the bookmarks.

PLAY NEXT
In addition to adding tracks to the end of the play queue, you can now insert after the currently playing track.

"PLAY MORE LIKE THIS"
When listening to a great track, it is now even easier to queue up "more like this" directly from the player menu:

TWEAKS
Recently added albums are now sectioned on date of addition.
Scroll position indicators are now colored according to the active theme for the main UI.
Visible warning about low disc space.

FIXES
FIX When creating a new playlist on 3.5" and 4" devices, the "Done" button were hidden by the keyboard, which prevents creating the playlist.
FIX Duplication of playlist-tracks would occur for playlists created/modified on a server-connection using redirect.
FIX Resource usage optimization.
FIX PlayQueue: delete from edit-mode does not seem to work any more.
FIX #1 songs not in same order as on server and last.fm.
FIX On iOS10, equalizer preview images are nearly invisible until refreshed (on player optionsmenu).
FIX Track tap with player set to random: plays random track instead of tapped track.
FIX Unable to add to empty playlists created server-side.
FIX When deleting from a playlist, the playlist is properly synced, but tracklist is not refreshed (until reentering the playlist view).
FIX Multiple fixes to offline handling.

Great app, I've been using it for quite a while. Any plans on implementing a proper 'Pin' or 'Make available offline' option for tracks/albums? Also, how difficult would it be to have Starred tracks appear in the order they were added? Cheers!

Hi,

It's been requested a couple of times, and I definitely see it as a really good feature.
I'm going to do some changes to the caching implementation later this year anyway, I'll probably fit this in then.

Certainly possible, I'll put it on the list of things to do - no ETA on this one though ;-)

Hello,
Could someone please advise how to create bookmarks in the IOS app? I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Thanks in advance.

play:Sub has two bookmark-modes:
1) Automatic (default)
2) Manual.

When in automatic mode, play:Sub add and removes bookmarks according to the criteria you set in the settings menu.
This means for example that every time a track is paused, a book mark is set or moved.
Once you "complete" a track, bookmarks are removed.

In manual mode, you get a "Create Bookmark" command in the options menu on the player.

You find settings controlling automatic and manual bookmarks in the settings section of the app.

Hope this help, else hit me up with more questions.

Cheers,
Michael.

Hello,
I have another question about the app. When I have an album cached and move it to a different folder on my NAS. The album moves in the play:Sub app but doesn't appear to be cached in the new location. But the audio cache space used number doesn't change. So what happened to the data?

Thanks in advance for your help.

The space is first reclaimed when the cache grows past it's limits.
