Missing track/album files in library - detailed description

Postby jtodd » Sat Feb 04, 2017 11:01 pm

Problem Description: I've just pulled in my music library after paying for the lifetime premium license, and there are some missing tracks which I know exist but are not shown. The Utah Saints album called "Utah Saints" (self-titled albums are not unusual) doesn't show up with any tracks, nor does their album "Two". I know with certainty that the files exist, are valid, and have correct permissions. Other albums/tracks in the same library (/music/jt-music/) work correctly, and have identical permissions and were ripped at the same time (I did all my albums at once.)

This worries me because I have no idea what other albums might be missing - this is the second or third track I tried playing, and it's very disheartening to find such a failure because now I have no faith that my library is actually usefully accessible with Subsonic - it's only "partial" which is worse than "not at all."

Troubleshooting Steps: Tried multiple re-scans of directories, looked in different clients to see if it showed up. The album name "Utah Saints" shows up, as does "Two" (their other album) but there are no tracks inside either. Searching on full or partial song names leads to no results as well.

Re: Missing track/album files in library - detailed descript

Postby protonis » Sun Jul 23, 2017 10:06 am

Hi,
did you get any response regarding your decribed problem? I have a similar problem on Version 6.1.1 (Build fc853b). I'm pretty sure in older releases it worked proper. But not i also miss many tracks/albums that are exist on my NAS. I also synchronized all Music-Content at once (all rights are set the same for everything).

What i also tried after many complete readings was to copy or move a single album just into another folder. And sometimes (not everytime) it worked so that this album was available after sync in SubSonic. But thats not "THE" solution.

Could this be a problem of current version?

Thanks!!

Oli

I have the problem too, windows 10 server 6.1.1... the database issues are ridiculous. I love subsonic and have been a premium user for some time now but this latest build needs to be fixed asap or I will need to start looking for a better option. :(

That's an interesting finding.
So possible the browser interface is having issues. Wonder if a new login user displays differently?

I have the same issue, but somehow it only started recently. If I replace a album with another version which where formerly present in Subsonic it won't show any files or only 2-3 after a rescan.
Newly added albums are working with all tracks. I then removed the album from the filebase, rescanned, cleaned the db, readded and scanned again.. then its properly showing up.
Weird thing is there was no update of the server or anything... it was working properly all the time before!?

Wonder if db sub process is running out of memory.
Maybe increase the memory allocation to see if it helps?

I have max memory at --max-memory=2048 which should be sufficient imho. Lib is around 1,5TB with 250k tracks... at least it was working fine pre 6.1.1.
Currently in the process of restoring an old db backup from 6.0.1 since I don't know whats all missing.

Edit: i restored old db, everything is fine. upgraded db to latest shema, rescanned, same albums missing. WTH?! Guess I revert the whole thing to an old version.

Editedit: Reverted everything back to 6.0 working as expected.. guess I'll wait for some future update :/

Exactly the same issue here - copied the songs to a different folder and everything worked just fine. This is so strange and leads me to believe something is strange in the way the DB is used.
Nuking the DB folders and starting clean seems to have done the trick, but it's a bit strange that it should be necessary when cleaning the db from the user interface should have purged any reference to the files that were not found?

I had something similar -- except, I was getting a partial track listing instead of the full track listing for an album.

I renamed the album folder, scanned, it showed up, then renamed it back to what it was supposed to be, rescanned, and it was fine.

Not sure why it didn't like it in the first place.

Did you try to open up the url

<UrlOfSubsonic>/db.view

and execute the follwing sql:

Code: Select all
UPDATE MEDIA_FILE
SET children_last_updated = '1970-01-01 01:00:00.0'
WHERE TYPE IN ( 'ALBUM', 'DIRECTORY')

then do a rescan of the library.

this helped me to recover 2% of missing songs after the upgrade to 6.1.1
