The folders have creation dates, so sort the folders by Creation date and all those from just before when the problems started move to another location, then delete the old db and rescan, run it for a few days and see if the corruption returns, if it doesn't then start moving the folders back until the problem returns you my then have identified which folder contains a suspect track ....

The truth is, and I know this makes me useless, I have no idea when the problem started. Like I didn't make a note of when it began because I just restored from my image backup and everything was fine for a while. So I don't know how far back to go. It might have been months, it might have been longer. And I add new directories/files a few times a week. So yes, I'm useless.

That having been said, I don't understand why Subsonic wouldn't log the error, that's what logs are for.

Edit: I'm going to download an MP3 file checker and scan all of my files. I know this won't help with videos, but it'll do the job on the MP3 side.

Bear in mind that Subsonic is all about the metadata and not the actual music data itself, so checking the actual mp3 part of the file is probably not critical its all the tags that Subsonic is looking at so programs like ID3 and Mediamonkey etc. are more likely to be useful to inspect that type of data, but its worth ago they may spot something but given that Subsonic runs the initial scan OK its probably not at that stage that the problem appears.

Well, I can say that it's for sure something during the scan process. I ran with podcasts and media folder scan disabled since my last post and didn't have a single corruption. Enabled podcast checking and still no corruptions for several days. Then I ran a manual media folder scan yesterday and the corruption occurred. I restored and have ran 2 manual scans with no issues since yesterday. So I guess I just have to leave scanning on manual and be sure to do a backup before every scan. Not great, not a solution, but it could certainly be worse. Thank you guys for trying to help with this. I wish there were a way to see where in the scan the corruption was occurring so that I could actually fix the problem though. :(

Check your files and descriptions for ascii characters that might not be supported on your operating system (dif langs - high ascii etc.)
I use https://picard.musicbrainz.org/ to scan, ident and rename my music library.
Picard can fix unsupported characters in your file names and tags.
Best part...picard is open source.
