network audio player support?

Postby ddwalker » Wed Apr 04, 2007 6:51 pm

Hi,
I just installed Subsonic on my PC and use it as a local audio server. I'm having a lot of fun right now.

I'm wondering if there is any network audio player, such as Roku, that can be used to stream audio from subsonic? More specifically, I'm thinking of putting the audio files to some web host on the internet and use a network audio player to listen to them from my living room. Do you think it's achievable?

Thanks.

Hi there,

I haven't tried that myself, but I don't see any reasons why it shouldn't work. (You would of course have to use the Subsonic web interface to manage the playlist of the player).

In theory, Subsonic should behave as any other http-based internet radio station, so any network audio player supporing internet radio should work.

Good luck :-)

Roku Supported?

Postby telcobert » Fri Nov 06, 2009 12:00 pm

Hello,

has anybody already used Subsonic practically with a Network Music Player?

Background: I have recently installed the Last.FM plugin for Mediamonkey and like the automatic Playlist.

Now I want to stream this from my Computer to my Roku Network Player.

Any sense if this will work with Subsonic? (Other ideas also appreciated...)

Many thanks, Bert

Did anyone have success streaming from Subsonic to their Roku?

I've been trying to wedge Subsonic into the Roku Roksbox (www.roksbox.com) channel with no luck.

Could not get this to work with Subsonic. Now I use my Mediamonkey Library with the Edcast plugin (gives me title / artist info) and stream locally via Shoutcast DNAS. Works like a charm.
