It's not just that the last update was Oct 2017. The last post from the developer in this forum was in Nov 2017. Bug reports on the sourceforge page have been "awaiting moderator approval" for months.
If subsonic were still open source, it wouldn't be dependent on the enthusiasm (existence?) of one person. There is no "Subsonic team!"
As it is, the writing is on the wall.
