discussed in another thread. the main change is using a different source (with fewer images, but at least it has something) for artists images, since last.fm doesn't work anymore. i don't know if any other bug fixes were incorporated or not.

Settings -> Personal -> Show artist bio and album notes
But I suppose that's per-user, not global.

Also, based on the API that I can see, that setting is only for the main UI as you're using it. It doesn't stop the attempts to fetch the artists's image in general, and individual apps that want to show the artist info including a photo are still going to do so.
