Some wav files cause scan to hang

Postby shaneproc » Sat Apr 24, 2021 7:28 pm

Subsonic v6.1.6 on Windows

I sometimes have issues with certain wav files causing "Scan for new media folders" to hang when it reaches the newly added files. No errors are logged (see below)

Offending wav files (no issues with the file other than they cause the scan for new files to hang) can be retrieved from different sources:
Sometimes when purchased online
Created from my Studio DAW (Presonus Studio one) - these always have an issue unless I use one of the methods below to resolve
I can rip any of my CDs to wav and will not have any problem with scanning - UNLESS I try to add tags before adding to Subsonic.

I can resolve the hanging issue by...
removing the offending wav files (which play perfectly fine) and rescan all folders after restarting subsonic service. (Scan completes fine when newly added wavs are removed)
convert the wavs to mp3 and add to folder, re-scan (not acceptable)
convert the wavs to flac, add to folder, rescan (acceptable, but why should I have to do this)
convert the wavs to flac, AND BACK to WAV. Add to folder, rescan (why does this work)

As mentioned, log shows no errors: (snip) (total files are around 17.5k)

[2021-04-24 13:25:36,591] INFO MediaScannerService - Scanned media library with 4500 entries. (just stays here until I stop subsonic, remove offending wav files, rescan)

Obviously there is something inherent in some wav files that is causing the scan to fail - something different about the file format that the scan process is having trouble dealing with.
I will gladly submit an offending wav file for analysis, please let me know how to provide.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
