So I moved recently and unfortunately I can't have my router in the same room as my two desktop PCs, forcing me to use WiFi.
Because I have a large music and video collection I need to regularly transfer files / run backups between my two PCs and the Wifi connection is too sluggish for this.
I solved the problem by creating a peer to peer network over ethernet for the two computers. So both machines (win 10) access the web using the WiFi network, but I can use the direct connection for large file transfers.
The two PCs now have two internal IP addresses each.
However, this has confused Subsonic. My Subsonic clients and my web browsers - whether on Windows, iOS, etc, - started to resolve my Subsonic server xxxx.subsonic.org when I am inside my house using the wrong IP address. Rather than pointing to 192.168.1.75:5050 it now attempts to access Subsonic via the IP address I manually set for this second connection.
This only happens when I am within my home network it seems. If I access from the outside, it resolves fine.
Does anyone know how to fix this? I ended up unplugging my ethernet connection and my Subsonic clients on iOS now work properly. Interestingly, Chrome is still unable to pull up xxxx.subsonic.org from within my network. Using another web browser works fine.
Short of abandoning my peer to peer network and only plugging in the cable when I need the connection, I have not found a solution.
