Share is quite a bit of work. select it, click the share button, copy the url and pass it on, the other user only sees it in the "share" player and not in their own account, so they can't look at the rest of the context without then logging in and searching for it in order to, say, add it to one of their own playlists. It works to share with a stranger, but is overkill for sharing with another user.
Really this is where the chat system could have used an improvement. If it was possible to share song/album/etc IDs through the chat, it might have made it a lot more useful.
Certainly individual apps might be able to do this (I've been trying to get a shared-listening experience thing going in SubFire for a few months now, with what little time I have) - though it is frustrating that many of the Subsonic forks or rewrites (Navidrome) have all gotten rid of the chat feature, leaving me back to my current system of having to use comments in playlists to exchange data. And apps require a license except with the forks.
