Strange "Now Playing" issue...

Postby colli419 » Mon Nov 30, 2009 7:25 pm

The problem that I am currently having is that when I log in on certain machines it shows in the now playing pane that the song I selected is playing (which it is), but as a different user. For instance, my username is "Jeff" and I select a song from my library to play, it does play, but in the "Now Playing" pane it shows the song as being played by "Susan." The thing that makes this problem even more complicated is that it does not happen on every machine (only my office computer that I have seen thus far). Does anybody have any ideas? Thanks!

I had this same problem and actually posted it on this forum. Apparently the problem has something to do with caching, but really I don't know how to fix it. I know what caching is, but not where to delete it. I firmly believe it is somewhere on the server, because my other users have informed me that they see this too, so I know it's not MY computer, it has to be my server.

This is furthermore proven, because restarting the server will resolve the issue...at least for a week or so until it reoccurs.

I'm using the following version: 3.7 (build 898) – June 15, 2009

So, restart your server and it will stop. I guess if restarting your server weekly or so doesn't bother you, you could get away with doing that. I did upgrade to version 3.8, but didn't like the chat feature, so I downgraded back to 3.7 until I feel like upgrading again. Can't vouch for that version, unfortunately.

Hope that helps!

I noticed this too, I had issues with the response of the server becoming slow over time (few days).

I set a scheduled task in windows to restart Subsonic every night at 4 or 5 am, it is very rare that I am up at that time, and even if I am I may not necessarily be using Subsonic anyway.

Alan.
If I am more stupid than you, does that make me better at something than you?

i have seen this in my install as well. I just tried resetting my server but it didn't fix the issue. I have been looking for a way to clear the cache too, but i haven't been able to find one. Its actually quite a bit maddening to see this issue. Makes me feel like creating different user accounts is useless and kills some of the fun that this server offers. I hope that there'd be a fix for this sometime in the near future.

I'm using version 3.8.

PS i'll donate even more when that happens.
