Can't change port to forward to

I've got subsonic working on my media box (Windows 7 Professional), and can stream my music to another PC on my home network and think it's a GREAT utility. But, my router is using port 80 for something the ISP set up and it won't let me change it. When I right click on the Subsonic icon in the task bar and go to the Subsonic control panel, then go to Settings and change the port number to 8080 and click on "Save Settings", I get an error dialog that says:

Failed to write to file C:\Program Files\Subsonic\subsonic-service.exe.vmoptions. subsonic-service.exe.vmoptions (Access is denied)

I have tried this when I have already logged into subsonic as Administrator, and when I have not logged in (though the service is running).

I would very much appreciate any guidance anyone can give me on figuring out how to change the port setting for Subsonic.

I had the same problem. What is doing? I doing this...

1.) Uninstall Subsonic with alle Settings and Folders.. Back up your Folder C:/Subsonic before.

2.) !!! Install Subsonic as Administrator to C:/Program Files (x86)/subsonic

3.) Got to this Folder and set the Files "subsonic-agent.exe (Windows XP SP3) and subsonic-service.exe to Program as Administrator....

Start Subsonic, set my Port to 8080 and it works correctly.

I use Windows 7 Enterprise. I hope that help u.

Hi deejay, thanks for your reply. I have one clarifying question:

In step 2.), what do you mean by "Install Subsonic to c:/program files (x86)/subsonic" - normally in Windows there's a folder named "c:/program files"; do you create a separate folder named "c:/program files (x86)", then install to the Subsonic folder under that?

deejay - no need to reply to that last post, I uninstalled and reinstalled into Program Files, then set the programs to Administrator, and was able to change the port. Thanks for the tip!

I ran into this problem recently and was able to fix it with just setting the subsonic-agent.exe file in C:\Program Files (x86)\Subsonic to Run As Administrator in Properties

Uninstalling and running as Win XP SP3 weren't necesary

the (x86) is normal set when you are running on 64 bit windows 7.
What version of windows 7 do you run on - 32 or 64?

Another Problem with Windows 7 is the "Indexing files"

Windows 7 does not indexing all files.

Do this:

Go to: C:/subsonic and change the write rights from file "subsonic13.index" file.
