Know of an auto mp3 tagger with coverart?

Postby squipple » Tue Jan 19, 2010 1:52 am

You guys seem pretty experienced with music software, so I'll put out the APB here. I've been installing and uninstalling programs for about 2 hours trying to find a program to do this.

I have a folder full of unsorted misc songs from different artists etc, and I want to load them all into a program that will batch auto-tag all the mp3s with cover art. Something where I can click "tag-all" and walk away for an hour while it tags everything.

I found one that came close called Mp3 tag express but it doesn't do cover art. It also seems to like to auto-populate the album tag with "Best of" albums or compilations instead of the original album.

Can anyone help me out?

I used songbird to get a bunch of cover art on to my mp3's. It didn't get all of them, but it did a fair amount. Unfortunately, when I ripped my music, I didn't think it was important to include the cover art.

For the ones songbird didn't get, I'm having to use tagscanner to add it, one album at a time

I tried songbird, but it doesn't seem to handle folders of misc mp3s in them.

I found two things that are close to what I want. Zortam mp3 studio and Jaikoz. Zortam isn't free, and Jaikoz always picks some random compilation CD that the track was on.

If anyone else has any suggestions, let me know. Otherwise, maybe someone can build a decent one. heh.

MediaMonkey does a great job at this. The free one works well (a few nice features on the pay version, but they are not needed).

I'll post a second vote for MediaMonkey. Works great for autotagging including artwork.
