playlist control

Postby neodawg » Fri Feb 12, 2010 3:18 pm

Currently any user can delete or create playlists.

I would like to see each user either bound to their own "directory" for storing their playlists or separate the setting of "allow users to create and delete playlists" into 2 items vs one option for both.

Also it would be nice if there would be a way to see who created what playlist, maybe on the load playlist screen it could display their userid below the name of the playlist title?

i'd like to see those features too. its kind of a precursor to being able to see what a given user listens to.

I have discussed this with friends and the problem with shared playlists is that anyone can mess them up. Maybe we could add more access controls for playlists like:
[ ]user can add songs to playlists
[ ]user can add X number of songs to each playlist per day
[ ]user can remove songs from playlist
[ ]user can change playlist order
[ ]user can delete playlists
[ ]user can create new playlists

Users should also be able to have personal playlists that only they can edit.

+1 for this feature.
(sorry for my english)
At my office we are using a subsonic server to listen music.
We have one playlist "office" that we are listening.
The problem is ... if you want to edit the playlist, you have to (2 solutions)
- connect as the "office" user who own the playlist office on your computer
- go to the jukebox machine and edit the playlist on it.

I would like to share this playlist between multiple members (each with their account) and let them edit the playlist office from their computer.
Thanks

I too would like to see playlist access control. In a previous version I was able to create a playlist where others could add songs or remove them, this suited my use of playlists quite nicely as everyone could contribute to what our playlist consisted of. The ability to share playlists to allow others to edit would be much more desirable instead of locking the playlist down to the owner.

Thanks.

I know that you can share playlists with other users, but this needs finer control. Privileges should be able to be assigned to a playlist or user. I have a generic user that I use for DJing collaborative playlists, and I have to assign administrative privileges in order for that user to modify a particular collaborative playlist that I'm working on, which exposes too much control of my server.

Alternatively, it would be nice to at least be able to mark a playlist as collaborative, and allow edits from all authenticated users; I imagine this would be the easiest and smallest change. I can already share playlists read-only to all non-admin users, I'd like to be able to create playlists that can be modified by other users without assigning them admin privileges.

This software rocks! (And worth a 1000 puns)

There used to be a playlist option for users which got taken out when the playlists were moved to be internal to the db. It seems like it would not be that hard to put it back and just make it so that if that is set, the user can edit public playlists. Pretty please Sindre :D
