Android app as jukebox remote control?

Postby jason » Sat Mar 06, 2010 7:37 pm

Hopefully this isn't a stupid question as I've searched the forums with no luck.

I really like this concept, and have both the server and android client configured and working.

I'd like to use the android client as a remote control for the server's jukebox mode. However, even when creating a separate server settings instance with a different account locked specifically to the jukebox player, it still plays on the handset.

Am I missing something huge? Is this a feature we should all be asking for?

Thanks :)

That's exactly what I want to do! Almost...
I have a HTPC streaming great from my subsonic server in the basement. It'd like to control the htpc player from my Droid. I don't understand 'players' fully. What's my options since I don't want to stream to my Droid.
Thanks, Clive.

PS my cursor vanished typing this on my Droid!

I would also be interested in this :). Having to setup a player/user/server-entry specifically for this would not be an issue. It would simply be nice for the Android device to be able to be a remote.

It's not as pretty but I'm doing this using the Android browser. It works great.

I'm still new to Subsonic (just installed it, but loving it) but I was wanting the same thing. This will hopefully replace XMBC for my music server.

Anyhow, I finally managed to get the WAP interface to work on Android by using Opera Mini. This looks perfect, but it doesn't seem to actually control the logged in session on my computer.

Hey everyone. I'm working on writing the jukebox functionality into the Android app now. Hopefully will be done in a few weeks. I'll post up when it is available.

Hi! Can you please tell me how you're doing this? I can't get anything to play via my DroidX browser- Including playing locally, or jukebox mode. The play never shows up, and nothing actually ever plays.

Am I missing something? The app works great, btw!

Android remote control

There are a number of applications on the Android market that will let you remote control your computer, but few are as powerful and full of cool features. Once you install app on your mobile phone, and you install the server software on any computer in your house.

Oh yeah, I was about to start a topic about this, but was glad to find this one. Thanks google!

Like being able to link two players so that instead of listening through speaker or headphones the Android (when connected to a certain wi-fi) just plays through the other logged-in player.
